Programmes like Illustrator and Photoshop were used to create the backgrounds layout (mobile phone’s screens and flash graphics). Their capability to generate great graphics, together with the various options and the user-friendly interface make them the perfect tool for this situation, rather than using either Flash or Director. Although having limited resources concerning graphics, Flash and Director are great to create interfaces that can improve the user experience. Even if some of the things developed using Flash can be done in Director and vice-versa, for most of them, one is better to execute a job than the other. I find Flash better for animation matters, while Director works better when creating more complex projects. And since both programmes “talk” perfectly between them I find it easier to use the two of them instead of sticking to just one (in some cases). The animations such as “disconnecting” and the website introduction were done using Flash and imported into Director, where they worked fine. The same happened with the GIF graphics. In some cases, a sprite behavior was given to a GIF image to make it work as a button. The sounds done by Leslie were all saved into .wav and worked fine when imported and edited in iMovie. The same happened with the MP3s from the BBC Library. As mentioned before, the videos were first edited using iMovie, then compressed using Cleaner and afterwards imported into Director. This last one seems to work pretty well with different types of videos. |
