The usability test was done twice, the first one being on the Paper Prototype and the second one on the final product.
1. Paper Prototype
How we Tested:
- 3 people, 1 asking questions, one operating the paper prototype, 1 reading sections of script so tester could visualise narrative
- Talk aloud method
- Asked tester to treat prototype as real product i.e ‘click’ with finger
- Asked questions to test specific areas
What we learnt about testing:
- Easy to modify prototype during testing to test different ideas
- Testers were able to engage with paper prototype
What we learnt about the product:
- Instructions generally helpful
- Changed ‘Profile’ to ‘View Info’ as testers didn’t respond to ‘Profile’
- Needed to make it more clear that video footage was ‘live’
- Needed to make it more clear user had to pay attention to details for ‘report’ at end of game
2. Web Product Testing
How we tested:
- 2 people testing, 1 asked questions, one observing/writing
- Talk aloud method + questions
- Gave Incentive (coffee, biscuits)
What we learnt about testing:
- Had to change questions/order of questions, depending on testers use of product
What we learnt about the product:
- It still wasn’t clear enough that video was live
- 1 tester clicked on screen rather than buttons
- They found it easier to play a second time (and they wanted to!)
- Liked concept- would like to see product on mobile phone
